I'm willing to bet that you take care of a lot in your life. Whether you're taking care of a house, a family, a job, or the rigors of day to day life (and probably it's a combination of these things) it's amazing how many things you're taking care of. You deserve to take care of yourself too!
I became a massage therapist so that I could take care of people just like you: people who work hard and who realize that a balanced life includes time for focusing on healing and rejuvenation too. I like to think of this in terms of one of Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of a Highly Effective People" - Sharpening the Saw. In his words:
"Suppose you were to come upon someone in the woods working feverishly to saw down a tree.
'What are you doing?' you ask.
'Can't you see?' comes the impatient reply. 'I'm sawing down a tree.'
'You look exhausted!' you exclaim.
'How long have been at it?'
'Over five hours,' he returns, 'and I'm beat! This is hard work.'
'Well, why don't you take a break for a few minutes and sharpen that saw?' you inquire.
'I'm sure it would go a lot faster.'
'I don't have time to sharpen the saw,' the man says emphatically. 'I'm too busy sawing!'
The point here is that it's important to take care of your instrument so that it will continue to be effective, and so that so that the work you do will be more efficient, and to me, this is what massage is about.
I became a massage therapist to take care of tight shoulders and stiff necks; to provide relief from stress; to help people feel more like they are floating through their days and less like they are trudging through them. I became a massage therapist to help people feel better naturally, and to be able to live happier, more fulfilling lives.
At Hoffman Healing Arts, we take care of your stress so you can be at your best.
